Special Olympics Florida, Duval County provides year-round sports training and competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for people 8 years of age and older with intellectual disabilities. Through the resources provided by Special Olympics Duval, athletes may participate in a variety of programs, giving them ongoing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in the sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympic athletes and the community.

Special Olympics is based on the belief that through sports training and competition, people with intellectual disabilities benefit physically, mentally, socially and spiritually; families are strengthened; and the community at large, both through participation and observation, is united in understanding people with intellectual disabilities in an environment of equality, respect and acceptance.
